Pyr Challenge 1: The 400

Update: Challenge 1 has been completed!

Amazing effort by our pioneer group of Pyr citizen scientists! Check out the leaderboard below:

About Challenge 1:

Pyr is finally here!

Dive into the hippocampus, a region of brain important for learning and memory.

We begin our quest with Challenge 1: The 400, a set of presynaptic axons that connect to the ~2,000 pyramidal neurons with somas in this volume. Proofreading these cells will reveal the input to the main excitatory neurons of CA3. There are some 58,000 presynaptic connections of these cells in this dataset.

To participate in Pyr Challenge 1, request access here: https://pyr.ai/ca3_access Access is open to all citizen scientists ranked Scout or higher in EyeWire.

Once you have access, begin at play.pyr.ai

When Pyr Challenge 1 is complete, the final leaderboard will be archived on this blog post.

This is your chance to map the very cells that drive navigation, memory, and imagination. We’re inviting you to go beyond the known, reconstructing connections that could redefine our understanding of the brain.
